ABOUT: Kristen Doherty is a nine-times published and internationally produced Australian playwright, who has been a writer, director, theatre maker and drama teacher for more than twenty five years. Over the past three years, there have been more than five hundred productions of her plays performed in primary, middle, and secondary schools, as well as universities and community theatre companies, all over the world.
WRITING FOR SCHOOLS: Kristen writes classroom-ready plays designed for performance, assessment, and festivals. Her work is known for large and flexible casts, ensemble-driven storytelling, and strong roles for all performers, with particular emphasis on female-driven and gender-neutral casting. Her plays span a range of styles and forms, including Contemporary Theatre, Shakespearean Adaptations, Comedy, Drama, Melodrama, Epic Theatre, Magical Realism and Theatre in Education, and are frequently used in drama classrooms and school productions.
